تناول هذا البحث أثر أقوال ابن عباس على الوقف التام من خلال كتاب (المكتفى في الوقف والابتدا) لأبي عمرو الداني، فناقش الوقوف في فواتح السور، وآواخرها، وفي رؤوس الآيات، وأواسطها، وكشف عن مسوغات أخرى تُرَجِّحُ الوقف التام وتقويه غير مرويات ابن عباس.
وبيَّن أن تعدد الوقوف من صور إعجاز القرآن؛ وأن كل وقف ينزل منزلة آية جديدة؛ إذ كل وقف أفاد معنى غير المعنى الذي أفاده الوقف الآخر.
وتوصل إلى أن علم الوقف والابتداء منه الوقف المستند إلى الأثر المنقول، ومنه الوقف المبني على الرأي المقبول.
كما حصر البحث نسبة الأقوال الواردة عن ابن عباس مقارنة بالأقوال الواردة في الكتاب، وكذلك نسبة الأقوال الواردة عن ابن عباس مقارنة بأقوال الصحابة الواردة في الكتاب، ونسبة الأقوال الواردة عن الصحابة مقارنة بالأقوال الواردة في الكتاب.
The research deals with the impact of Ibn Abbas’s sayings on the complete pausing through the book of (Al-Muktafa fi al-Waqf wa Al-Ibtada) by Abu Amr Al-Danny. The research discusses the wisdom behind pausing at the beginning of surahs, at the end, at the beginning of the verse, and at the middle. The research also focuses on the major rationale for giving preponderance of complete pausing in narrations other than Ibn Abbas.
The research indicates that the variety of pausing is one of the miracles of the Glorious Qur’an and every pausing represents a new verse as every pausing gives a connotation different from the other.  
The research concluded that the science of al-Waqf wa al-Ibtida (Pausing and Starting) includes both pausing based on oral transmission and what is based on accepted opinion.
The research included sayings attributed to Ibn Abbas in comparison with the sayings mentioned in the book. It also included the sayings attributed to Ibn Abbas in comparison with the sayings of the companions mentioned in the book and the sayings attributed to the companions in comparison with the sayings mentioned in the book
